Our next sightseeing stop is Katherine, 700km north of Tennant Creek. This means two days driving with little or no sightseeing. Not that there is much to see. Just wide open plains, scruby plains, low, red, rocky ranges and sparse towns. We left the cool centre and arrived two days later in the hot humid tropics. And this is winter up here. We stopped overnight at Daly Waters and were forced to change from flannelette sheets to bamboo.
Up very early for a sunrise cruise of the Nitmiluk Gorge (Katherin Gorge).

Some of the new birds (for us) and old favourites we found in the Katherine region.
We even found a bower built by a Great Bowerbird
Kathrine also has a natural hot springs.
The water is hot and crystal clear.
We are leaving Katherine today and heading north towards Kakadu. But we have one last stop in the Nitmiluk National Park; Edith Falls. We are on the road early hoping to for a sunrise photo.
We arrived at Edith Falls as the sun was coming over the gorge walls but it was more a hinderance than a help.
